How Legalisation of Documentation is done in UK

Legalization is the process through which a signature, seal, or stamp on a public document is formally acknowledged as being authentic. The UK government can legalize UK public documents such as birth, death, and degree certificates. The apostille is another name for this Legalisation of Documentation.

To have a document from the United Kingdom legalized for usage, you must do three steps:

Contact the Legalization Office and apply online for this service, Please be aware that before submitting a document to the Legalization Office, it may be necessary for it to be certified by a notary public in the UK. Please contact the Faculty Office if you require a notary. Make sure to pay the UK courier fee before sending your documents to the UK Legalization Office so that they can be forwarded to the Embassy in London. Include a completed application form, a pre-addressed envelope for the Embassy, and the fee payment for the Embassy.

Request that the Embassy in London legalize the document

The original document(s) must be forwarded to the Embassy in London for the next step in the procedure after being legalized by the UK Legalization Office. The UK Legalization Office will dispatch these on your behalf if you have previously paid the courier price. Make contact with the Embassy to let them know when your documents will arrive.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Legalization Division, must affix its stamp to the document(s) before they can be used. British nationals are recommended to get in touch with the local authorities to establish the requirements before conducting these actions. Once these procedures are finished, it is not necessary for the British Embassy to view or stamp these documents. This information is given as a general reference and is based on data that the appropriate local authorities submitted to the embassy. It is susceptible to change at any time with little or no warning.
